WELCOME TO
CROSSROADS
Crossroads promotes,
offers, supports and delivers high quality services for
carers and people with care needs
Our Crossroads scheme exists to give
regular, reliable and flexible
home-based breaks to carers. We cover
the whole range of age and disability,
ranging from children with autism to
older people with dementia. Our Carer
Support Workers come to the home for a
few hours a week and take over the
caring duties while the carer has time
off for themselves. Our staff also offer
all-important emotional support to
carers.
As well as our
core service of home-based breaks we also offer a weekend
day care service, based at St Marks day centre in Maidenhead
(Saturday and Sunday) and at Helena Ward in King Edward VII
hospital, Windsor (Sunday only). For details see the
About Us page
Our Crossroads
scheme belongs to a
national organisation, the Crossroads Association, which
campaigns for wider recognition of carers and their needs.
The NHS and the Social Services are now much more aware of
the importance of carers, whose work is estimated to save
the country no less than £87 billion a year
Daisy
O'Donoghue, 17, is a young carer supported by
Crossroads. She looks after her mother who has MS. Our
Carer Support Worker gives her a break twice a week -
which is a big help to Daisy who is now doing her
A-levels.
